Solidarity and Resistance in Community 3: On Private Property | the Jesus Manifesto
Third part of a series that investigates solidarity and resistance in community. This part examines the concept of private property, and what kind of effects it can have on people and what should be done about it. I'm not sure that I agree with any of the options that are put forth, but it's the kind of language that can cause us to think, and I do agree that this is necessary.

Using HTML5 elements in WordPress post content – Nicolas Gallagher — Blog & Ephemera
Using HTML5 in WordPress post content. Without these options, WordPress tries to add all kinds of unnecessary HTML, so this is incredibly helpful whether one is using HTML5 or even XHTML.

Cameron Moll: Designer, Speaker, Author New Design, New Host, and Tumblr: How, Why
Cameron Moll writes about the methods and reasons for his new blog's design. I'm really interested in his thoughts on combining external links with longer articles, and have pondered doing that with this site. We'll see.

Beta faith and Theology After Google

March 16th, 2010

I'm a big fan of the Homebrewed Christianity podcast. I just got my first iPod for Christmas, and have been catching up on old and new episodes of this podcast, and some others, since then.

Solidarity and Resistance in Community 1: Captivated by Our Own Radicality | the Jesus Manifesto
First part of a series that investigates solidarity and resistance in community. This part examines our tendency to congratulate ourselves for very small things – moving into poor neighborhoods, living in community, serving a few of the poor, helping a few folks change their lives, etc. – in light of the fact that larger structural changes go unachieved. Powerful things for us to think about.

Solidarity and Resistance in Community 2: Into the Margins | the Jesus Manifesto
Second part of a series that investigates solidarity and resistance in community. This part examines how easy it is to move into poor communities and do a few things without actually focusing on marginalized people in these communities, and yet still feel the right to be self-congratulatory. While I haven't yet done this kind of move (it compels me and will hopefully happen in the not-too-distant future), it is essential to remember that doing this must lead us to solidarity and mutual liberation.

Hey, Mr. Falwell, Read Your Bible – Jesus Creed
Scot McKnight reflects upon the growing trend of equating libertarian politics with the biblical world. I'm with him on this: I really love the Anabaptist tradition and resonate deeply with its understanding of the kingdom of God as utterly separate, but I have no problem supporting and seeking a government that will care for the poor.

Society for Pentecostal Studies Paper: What Emergents Have to Learn from Pentecostals | Tony Jones
Tony continues his paper on Pentecostalism and Emergent, looking at what Pentecostals have to teach us within Emergent. There's a deep humility in this post, and it's my hope as a person with a deep love for both streams here that this can mark something significant.
