sin kills god: why jesus had to die“
Interesting look at the death of Jesus. I find this to be fascinating, as I do not subscribe to the idea that penal substitution is the end all of atonement theology. I resonate strongly with several of the other explanations, including this one.

After Christendom, before meltdown | andrewperriman
"We likewise need to leave the ruins of the Christendom mindset and set out across the difficult, broken terrain of post-modernity… but to what end? What will be our suffering – our 'tribulation'? What will be our parousia? What will be our vindication?"

Killing America’s brands, one lousy C.E.O. at a time. « The BrandBuilder Blog
In light of my post the other day on the government's right to get rid of CEOs of companies that it has bailed out, this is a good read to indicate how it shouldn't be Wagoner or his replacement trying to run GM.

Is Your Company Designed for Humans? – Peter Merholz – HarvardBusiness.org
I forgot to link to this article last week. Very unique design article. "Research over the last couple of decades has shown that not to be true, that our minds, our thoughts, our emotions are very much the result of an interplay between our brains and our bodies. I know I think better not when sitting, but when given the freedom to move around (if I have to sit, I end up fidgeting). Those thoughts that emerge in the shower are very much the product of immersion in hot water."

Fantastic example of what can be done to visualize a vast amount of data – that being Wikipedia's content. I think one of the design industry's most interesting overall projects involves this kind of visualization of really big amounts of data.

"Why, then, do we talk about how "superior" Chrome is? And how Firefox is dying? When one looks at all of the browsers from an overall web experience, only IE8 is worse than Chrome."

Do Search Engines Look at Keywords in URLs?
We don't always know how search engines view URLs. We do know that they prefer "friendly" ones, but this sheds some light on what exactly they might look at.

Glocal Christianity: The Postmodern Conversation is Over
Looks at the idea that the postmodern conversation is over. We discussed this possibility when I was in college in 2004, and we concluded that in many ways it is indeed over. Whether we use the term or not, the pieces of this shift are making their way into the collective consciousness, which is part of the reason for less activity around the word itself. In addition to this, whether we use the term or not, many people are still ignorant of the shift's existence, which is another part of the reason. The edge is always moving.

Great PHP article that was inspired by another article, leading the authors to write commentary and expansion on 10 PHP tips. I knew several of these, but still learned a good deal.

THE RESCUE [+] HOUSE PARTIES – MARCH 25TH – WORLDWIDE
March 25th is Invisible Children's Rescue House Party Event, and the official unveiling of the rescue plan. At this link, you can watch "Rescue," the newest documentary. In all honesty, I almost never cry (for better and for worse, of course), and this brought tears to my eyes.

The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan (March 22, 2009) – "Sullivan Group Think"
“This noxious corruption of religion is still at large. Gingrich, for example, sees it as a lynchpin for the future of the Republican coalition. And it has clearly helped delegitimize Christianity in the eyes of many who might otherwise be tempted to look at the Gospels in a more open-minded fashion. The damage these fanatics and reactionaries have done to actual faith – let alone a rational politics – is incalculable, and I'm damned if I will allow them to use the word "Christian" to describe their agenda. It isn't.”

The Forgotten Tour

March 23rd, 2009

Some friends of mine are involved in a tour called The Forgotten Tour, which is making a stop in Atlanta on March 30th, at Danneman's Coffee. Essentially, it is an event designed to raise awareness, and something about, homelessness on an individual level.

SSH into networked computer on Mac OSX

March 21st, 2009

I've written occasionally about my experiences with Ubuntu Linux. Since I got accustomed to the system, everything has been overwhelmingly positive, especially when it relates to using Ubuntu for programming. Predominantly, I program in PHP and Ruby on Rails, depending on the project.
