On Suffering, with Rob Bell and Derek Foster | themattscott
Matt Scott has profound thoughts on the Drops Like Stars tour that came through Atlanta the other day, and I love him even more for bringing Tolkien into the discussion. Beautiful thoughts.

Painted Idolatry: “One Nation Under God” » Blog » Greg Boyd (Christus Victor Ministries)
"We are to manifest a Kingdom in which there is no male or female, Jew or Greek, rich or poor, American or British, and in which there is no violence. This painting is a perfect illustration of the sort of primitive tribalism and diabolic nationalism that keeps Christians from doing this. It must, I believe, be renounced in the strongest possible terms."

Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize

October 9th, 2009

As you may have already seen, Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. You can see his response, which I deeply appreciate and respect, though I disagree with parts of it. First of all, I'll say this: I don't think any United States president is really worthy of an award for peace.

Don't Celebrate The Verizon Android Announcement Just Yet – You Might Want To Wait For The Other Android Shoe To Drop – dslreports.com
A reminder of what we should probably still expect from Verizon's Google announcement. This is, sadly, probably a likely outcome, but we have to hope for better.

Groundbreaking Agreement Between Verizon Wireless and Google to Leverage
This is potentially a great move for both Verizon and Google, as literally everyone is angry with the awful network where the iPhone currently runs. I don't think Google has a huge time window in which AT&T will be the exclusive carrier for the iPhone, so they have to make this good.

the Jesus Manifesto » Greed, America, and the Rich Young Ruler
This reverberates through questions and arguments I've had inside myself with relation to wealth, especially recently. Convicting and powerful. "When wealthy people come to faith, they are to share everything with the poor, who receive it. But the poor and the wealthy don’t then go their separate ways, rather, they live as family. The goal of downward mobility isn’t mere charity, but solidarity."

Re-imagining the Holy Spirit: The ‘face’ of the Spirit in Trinity and Community at Deep Church
Great thoughts on understanding the face of the Spirit of God. " Might it be that any failure to correspond our mission and praxis to the Spirit’s mission and praxis represents a quenching?"

On Morality and Narrative Law | Donald Miller
Donald Miller proposes a "narrative law" that could offer a new perspective on morality. One that is not based in black and white, and does not require faith outside of narrative. A potential place of common ground for all of us. Challenging thoughts that fit well with his new book.

They Tortured A Man They Knew To Be Innocent, Ctd. | The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan
This can take your breath away. These things need to be shared, and as expected Andrew continues to share them as they come to light.

James' Travels: Business Will Change the World, chapter 3: The Crescendo
James continues his series on business changing the world. "But there's an enormous problem: We don't apply the same values to our purchases that we do to other parts of our lives."
