"Anyone who refers to themselves as a person of faith should take the time to investigate more deeply the literature they call sacred especially if their interpretation of this sacred lit leads to very, very strong condemnations of others. A faith that condemns, after all, is no faith at all."
On the enneagram, I'm an investigator. This describes me really well, I think, as does the INTJ on the MBTI, and there is fascinating information on these pages. I do share the reservations that some have about the possibility of pigeonholing people with this kind of data, but I think we can guard against this and learn much.
"In case you hadn't noticed the lovely titles on this page, they're League Gothic. Well, they should be if you happen to be using the latest version of Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer. However, it took much trial and error to figure out exactly how to get there."
Jonathan Snook shows what seems to be "the best and most complete approach to font embedding using @font-face. It really is a dark art that must be mastered. It is by no means a straightforward process."
Here are some thoughts on the experience of the Spirit within the emerging church. I have begun to think, in recent months, that this may be one of the things I can, or at least want to try, to contribute to Emergent. I think there is much room for emerging/charismatic/Pentecostal hyphenateds, as Phyllis would say, and I want to see more than the little bit we've already seen. But I also think that there is deep, deep possibility for charismatic experience within Emergent specifically.
Bono's thoughts on rebranding America, specifically in light of Obama's peace prize. I share his passion for the Millennium Development Goals, and his hope that Obama will take action on extreme poverty. A good read.
Jon Stewart owns CNN in 10 minutes. You need to watch and share this video, as it is one of the biggest reasons that cable news is dangerous and irrelevant, though people continue to think it is relevant.
Lauren Winner's 21 characteristics that – if we all are faithful now – the world will say about Christians by the end of this century. I can't even fathom how wonderful this would be. May it be so.
HTML email has never had support for video, beyond a very small number of clients. HTML5 changes that a little bit already, while offering a really good fallback solution.
Cornel West has what I think is the absolute best response to Barack Obama's peace prize. This is a 5 minute video that is well worth watching. "it's gonna be hard to be a war president with a peace prize…"
Matt Scott has profound thoughts on the Drops Like Stars tour that came through Atlanta the other day, and I love him even more for bringing Tolkien into the discussion. Beautiful thoughts.
"We are to manifest a Kingdom in which there is no male or female, Jew or Greek, rich or poor, American or British, and in which there is no violence. This painting is a perfect illustration of the sort of primitive tribalism and diabolic nationalism that keeps Christians from doing this. It must, I believe, be renounced in the strongest possible terms."
A reminder of what we should probably still expect from Verizon's Google announcement. This is, sadly, probably a likely outcome, but we have to hope for better.
Jonathan Stegall is a web designer and emergent / emerging follower of Jesus currently living in Atlanta, seeking to abide in the creative tension between theology, spirituality, design, and justice.
