Matthew Paul Turner has a guest post on things men need to know about sex with their wives. And seriously: most men don't know about these things, or they don't care. It is LIBERATING to have equality between the sexes, and this DOES include sex as much as it does anything else. Sex is too often the last thing a feminist realizes that she deserves to enjoy just as much as a man, and thus the stereotypes continue.
While I don't think there are as many men who endure the selfishness or ignorance of their partners as there are women, this one from a couple of months ago offers some great information all the same.
Some amazing examples of the future of HTML5, especially smart forms. The forms can best be viewed in Opera, though there are some that work nicely in Safari too. I can't imagine how wonderful it will be to stop worrying about JavaScript for this kind of stuff. I wonder if will negate some serverside validation as well?
Perceptive thoughts on why New Atheism is doing so well. We need to get this. We didn't get it when Barth and Bonhoeffer tried to teach us, and most of us don't get it now, but it is necessary.
"Fairtrade accreditation is the current big thing for the major food companies, but fair's not always fair. What big corp fair trade products are greenwash and which should we be buying?"
Some thoughts on the modern charge that postmodernism is nothing but meaningless relativism. This is still a very relevant conversation for us to have.
"After receiving over 6,200 letters from Change.org community members, the Department of Labor released their long-awaited report on goods produced by child labor and forced labor today."
Great post from Jon Trott on Obama's promise that abortion dollars will not be in the healthcare plan. But more importantly, the post examines the consistent ethic of life that is lacking on both sides.
Mike Morrell examines the future of apologetics, and also examines what we might call the age where we currently find ourselves, if it is no longer "postmodern." I'm not convinced that we need to create a new name yet, and he doesn't seem to be either, but these are fascinating thoughts.
How we as designers can create content strategy for sites we are creating, in the very frequent event that it is not possible or not feasible to have a dedicated content strategist.
Beautiful manifesto on the discipline of content strategy, which has really begun to take off since this article was published, moving into the best web conferences, releasing books, and so on. It's a wonderful thing, and incredibly helpful for us as designers.
"We all need desperately to get past lorem ipsum, but also to stop worrying content as though it were some daunting glyph. For that to happen, content strategy has to stand up and be counted."
Brian McLaren asks for a new generation of Republican leadership – one that goes beyond fear-mongering and nostalgia and brings constructive conversation. It would be a wonderful thing.
Julie looks at the story of the twelve year old Jesus being left at the Temple in a way I've never considered. But it makes a great deal of sense, in light of what we know about the family of Jesus. Great read.
Review of the documentary Women in Warzones, which "chronicles the journeys of two women in the Congo from their rape at the hands of rebel groups to their stays at a private hospital that specializes in treating women for physical and mental issues after rape."
This letter reveals some great things about the future of Emergent Village, continuing from the gathering in D.C. earlier this year. There are great places for many of us to get involved, and great space prepared for the future.
One of the best responses to this madness over Obama's speech to students. Drew reveals the hypocrisy that has become the Right, and spends some time to define what things actually are.
Magnetic paint. While this is not as cool as whiteboard paint, this is a fantastic thing. My ideal office: magnetic paint with whiteboard paint on top of it.
Jonathan Stegall is a web designer and emergent / emerging follower of Jesus currently living in Atlanta, seeking to abide in the creative tension between theology, spirituality, design, and justice.
